Director of Youth & Family Ministries (DYFM): This position is responsible for ministering to young people between the 6th and 12th grades and their families. The DYFM will seek to build relationships among the youth and their families, mentor youth in faith, and provide comprehensive programming that helps equip the young people of Zion Lutheran Church for a life of faith. In addition, this individual is directly responsible with growing the program through outreach.
This position will be based onsite at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City. It is part-time, 10 hours a week, $30 an hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming
- Build relationships among the youth and their families.
- Design and implement a comprehensive youth program that balances spiritual growth, mission, fellowship, and worship.
- Reach out to inactive youth and make efforts to reach youth not connected to church in our area.
- Recruit and train (with the help and guidance of the pastor) a team of members from the congregation to support leading the youth group.
General Expectations
- Provide leadership for weekly youth groups.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Communicate and coordinate scheduling with the Parish Administrator and other program leaders in the church.
- Provide an annual report in December.
- Attend and provide occasional leadership in weekly Sunday worship.
Qualifications
- Experience working with teens.
- Leadership experience in a faith community.
- Pass a background check.
Working Conditions
- The position of Director of Youth & Family Ministries is a job that largely entails evening and weekend work. Compensation is hourly and work projected at 10 hours per week. It is also understood that the number of hours required during any given week will be flexible based on program needs.

- An ability to work with teenagers as they endure challenging circumstances.

- A desire to reach young people and accompany them in their faith exploration.
- An ability to work well with others including the staff and the parents of the youth.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- A desire to learn and keep current on youth ministry trends and culture.
Supervision
- The Director of Youth Ministry is under the direct supervision of the Pastor.
Compensation
- The Youth Ministry Director Position will be paid $30 per hour.
- Approximately 10 hours a week.
- This position starts immediately.
