Love the perspective of the sermon -- and a question re a week ago. How do we know that there were 4 letters to the Corinthians if only two remain?

Good question, Joan. Biblical scholars have identified fragments of these letters but their true authorship was in question. Some refer to them as pseudo-Pauline. Because of that, they didn't make it into the canon. We know of many gospels and epistles that existed in the early years of the Christian church, but for various reasons they too never made it into the canon.

Aha -- thank you. Like the Gnostic Gospels and good old Athanasius. I have read/struggled through the Gnostic Gospels, and do find them fascinating. And I love the whole discussion of the Pauline school and "did he or didn't he" write this one...
