A Word from the Pastor:

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of children.

Thank you for the holy surprise we receive through their witness: “Jesus cured ten leprechauns!” Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised -- this is the way that Jesus said it would be: when attending to the little ones, it is Jesus
who we serve.

It is Jesus, whose special love for children calls them to sit close, that he might hug and love them. Jesus never once scolded them, saying: “Grow up.” But to the adults he places a child in our midst, reminding us -- unless we have that little one’s faith we cannot see God’s gentle rule among us.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of children and the ministry we share in this community of faith. Thank you for notes to the pastor, Sunday School, children’s sermons, Let Me Shine Preschool, VBS Music Camp, for the holy hub-bub sounding from back pews, Joyful NOIZ, children’s choir, Palm Sunday worship, pictures and posters of faith and hope.

And, one thing more, Lord. Let our thankfulness be thoughtfulness for children wounded in this world and by this world.

Bless our partnership in mission: Coalition of Religious Communities, CORC – “Ending Child Homelessness”, Volunteers of America – Youth Resource Center, and Maud’s Cafe, “ending homelessness on cup at a time” www.maudscafe.com. Hospitality shared and received in the Ronald McDonald Room, Primary Children’s Hospital, AMPARRO with ELCA – protecting migrant children, Witness shared by Lacy Foulks, Not My Daughter: Berkley’s life with PANDAS.

In the name of Jesus, who loves all God’s children,
Pastor Steve
