The Cross

For Luther, it is the great exchange, the sweet swap.
At the place of the cross
God has taken away the sins of the world
and has dropped them down the dark hole of Jesus’ death.
On the cross, God has shut up forever on the subject of guilt:
“There is now therefore no condemnation….”
At the cross
God replaces our sin with righteousness;
and, for us
in the place of dying,
gives Christ’s life and joy and peace.

This cross is cut out of the south wall.  The metal from which it is cut is being exchanged for an exterior and interior which reduces our carbon footprint.  Our congregational council has decided to cut crosses of various shapes from our old wall.  They will soon be available to you. Your donation will make the cross a sweet swap, supporting refugees, asylum seekers and reunification of families through the ministry of Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey, ELCA, in El Paso.  (This is the home congregation for our partner in mission, Seminarian Juan de Dios Lopez.)
